Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 4: Nadia Ahmad Samdin on island systems resilience
As an island-nation, Singapore's safety and sustainability is closely linked to the health of its coastal, water and marine ecosystems. Climate change places growing pressure on these interconnected systems. Rising sea levels affect coastal protection, more intense rainfall tests flood resilience and warming seas affect aquaculture stability. MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin highlighted these issues in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 3). She also sought the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s views in two main areas - flood resilience as well as climate resilient aquaculture and food resilience.Â
