Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 5: Ang Wei Neng on relaxing HDB flat eligibility

02:21 Min

With housing supply improving and price pressures easing, this is the right time to fine-tune HDB eligibility policies so that more Singaporeans can access affordable housing while keeping the market stable and fiscally responsible, said MP Ang Wei Neng. He urged HDB to lower the Build-to-Order (BTO) eligibility age for singles to 30, raise the BTO income ceiling for first-time families and waive the 15-month wait-out period for private property owners to buy a non-subsidised HDB flat. He spoke in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4).
