Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 5: Ang Wei Neng on segmented HDB units and pest bird control
In parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4), MP Ang Wei Neng called for the Lift Upgrading Programme to be extended to the approximately 100 remaining HDB blocks that do not have direct lift access. Noting HDB’s constraints, he suggested several policy adjustments for HDB to consider. Turning to the issue of pest birds, Mr Ang highlighted that the Ministry of National Development receives about 22,000 cases of public feedback on pest birds. He wanted to know the manpower strength of the National Parks Board team which manages pest bird feedback and whether existing resources are adequate, given the sustained volume of cases year after year.
