Typhoon Bavi: More than 1.8 million people evacuated in China as storm approaches
Nearly two million people have been evacuated across China as the country braces for Typhoon Bavi. The storm is expected to make landfall early on Sunday in the eastern province of Zhejiang. Evacuations have been ordered in Fujian, Shanghai and Beijing, where torrential rain has raised fears of further flooding. Bavi has already battered northern Taiwan, forcing more than 14,000 people from their homes and cutting power to around 170,000 households. Some one-thousand flights have been cancelled and schools and government offices have been shut. Tan Yew Guan reports.
