Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 5: Nadia Ahmad Samdin on diversity in housing typologies
Singapore’s population and family planning dynamics are changing due to its ageing society and falling birth rate, as well as marriage and divorce rates, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin. She suggested that housing typologies might need to diversify, offering a wider spectrum of options to meet people’s changing needs and aspirations. In parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4), she also asked how the Ministry of National Development weighs trade-offs and integrates nature into design principles of new housing estates, and in efforts to improve heat resilience and tackle rising sea levels.
