28:16 Min

An additional 3,500 early childhood educators will be hired by 2030 and they will receive more training before and after starting work. It is part of efforts to improve staff and service quality as the sector evolves to apply more play-based learning and support different learning needs. Minister of State for Social and Family Development Goh Pei Ming said this in parliament on Friday (Mar 6). His ministry is also reviewing educators’ workload and working conditions, and will embark on a sector-wide job redesign project. All pre-schools will get more funding and support to adopt digital capabilities to improve operations and programme quality. And more focus will be placed on research to ensure that the sector takes up effective and innovative practices.
