Singapore must press on with efforts to help its industries, enterprises and workforce harness sustainability as a competitive advantage, invest in innovation and seize new growth opportunities in the green economy, said Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 8), he outlined the strategies to help companies and industries drive new areas of growth, invest in new low-carbon industries solutions and deepen the capabilities of the workforce. He stressed that despite the limitations and complexities, Singapore must continue to forge ahead to transform the energy sector and reduce its carbon footprint. The Government will continue to work closely with industry partners and stakeholders to innovate and explore new solutions. At the same time, it will equip its people to seize upcoming opportunities in the transition and roll out new programmes to keep pace with evolving needs. Mr Gan said Singapore’s transformation to a low-carbon economy will be a challenging but exciting journey. He urged Singaporeans to work together to navigate the transition, explore new ideas and forge new frontiers to create a greener future.
