Eric Chua on enrolment in day activity centres

01:35 Min

Day activity centres (DACs) are community-based facilities providing care and skills training to persons with disabilities aged 18 and above. As of April 2022, there are 31 DACs funded by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), offering more than 1,700 places. Their utilisation rate is 78 per cent and eight centres are completely full. Replying to an MP’s question on DAC enrolment on Monday (May 9), Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua noted that MSF increased funding for DACs by 20 per cent last October and DACs will hire more staff to improve the quality of care. He also said the ministry will look into setting up new DACs in areas where demand is expected to exceed supply.
