Eric Chua on income criteria for Student Care Fee Assistance

02:59 Min

The Student Care Fee Assistance (SCFA) scheme provides help to lower-income families who require assistance with student care centre fees. Around three in five families on SCFA receive the maximum subsidies. As for out-of-pocket fees, the median family receiving the SCFA pays S$29 per child. Those receiving the highest subsidy pay as low as S$5. The Ministry of Social and Family Development reviews the SCFA from time to time to ensure that student care fees remain affordable. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Eric Chua said this in reply to an MP’s question in Parliament on Tuesday (May 9).
