Gan Siow Huang on lactation rooms in autonomous universities, polytechnics and ITEs

Autonomous universities, polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education are equipped with multiple lactation rooms across their campuses. Beyond taking into account the size of the campus, the Institutes of Higher Learning also consider other factors when setting up lactation rooms. This includes the general age profile of their workforce and also the relative accessibility of the lactation rooms from their staff workspaces. Minister of State for Education Gan Siow Huang shared this in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 7) in reply to an MP’s question. She added that it is “not meaningful” to compare the average campus area served by each lactation room as different campus buildings serve different functions.
