Police take a tough stance against scammers and their mules, including those who allow their bank accounts to be used to receive the scam proceeds. They will do more in public education efforts, but it is often not possible for the police to protect all businesses and the public from all forms of scams and fraud. Minister of State for Home Affairs Goh Pei Ming said this in reply to an MP’s questions in parliament on Friday (Sep 26), in light of the cases of fake bulk order scams impersonating SAF personnel. He urged the public and businesses to be discerning and vigilant as criminals will often constantly devise new ways and approaches to scam their victims.
