Future reviews of regulations should be driven primarily by research and this research should be communicated together with any proposed new regulations, said MP He Ting Ru. Speaking in parliament on Tuesday (Feb 3), she sought clarifications on how the policies were developed. One concern revolves around the time given for the new rules to take effect. Ms He pointed out that there are only four months until mid-2026; with the new regulations adding quite a few requirements, she said it would be fair to give users more time to get used to the regime and ensure compliance. On the recommendation to reduce the speed limit to 6kmh from the current 10kmh, Ms He wanted to know more about the data used to determine how much to reduce.
