The Workers’ Party agrees that tough measures are required to tackle online harms, allow victims to seek better redress and healing, and ensure that platforms act responsibly, said MP He Ting Ru. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Nov 5), she pointed out that the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Bill leaves areas of concern unaddressed. It leaves out certain harms which result in severe impact on victims, certain clauses of what constitutes an online harm need further refinement and there should be reporting requirements from the Commission which will enhance public understanding and education about the harms and protection regime.
