Illegal online gambling on the rise even as fewer Singaporeans gambled

According to a latest survey by the National Council on Problem Gambling, the overall gambling rate amongst Singaporeans is on a downward trend, although illegal online gambling is on the rise. Of the over 3,000 residents polled, 40% participated in gambling -- the lowest rate in 18 years. Illegal online gambling notched up 0.7 percentage point from the last survey in 2020 to reach 1% last year.
