Indranee Rajah on proportion of annual births from women in different age bands

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Indranee Rajah said that in 2021 and 2022, around 33 per cent of total live births were from women aged 30 and below. Around 44 per cent were from women between 31 and 35 years old and around 23 per cent were from those 36 years old and above. Ms Indranee said that globally, women are choosing not to get married or differing having children after they get married. What the Government is trying to do is to encourage and make it easier for people to get married and have children. Ms Indranee was replying to an MP’s question in Parliament on Friday (Mar 1).
