Singapore must stay open and relevant to the global economy if it is to remain competitive and innovative. Otherwise, it may one day be looking not at a problem of whether having foreign talent is a good thing, but how to stop a brain drain of younger Singaporeans leaving in search of better opportunities elsewhere. Raising that scenario in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 14), NMP Janet Ang also spoke about why qualified foreign talent is needed in Singapore, and urged locals to be eager and willing to pick up relevant skills and work experience.
