Joan Pereira on Building a Healthier SG

05:19 Min

Under the Healthier SG plan, service fee payments for family doctors will be partly based on progress made by patients in preventive care or management of chronic diseases. But in cases where patients are non-compliant, can doctors choose not to continue treating them and how will such patients then be helped? MP Joan Pereira brought up this question in Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 4) during the debate on the White Paper. She also asked about the additional administrative and IT costs that will have to be borne by clinics, and what role Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners might be able to play in the new healthcare model.
