13:39 Min

The two police officers involved in the case of Indonesian Parti Liyani had neglected their duties and fallen short of expectations. They have been fined and lost “a number of months of increment". Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam gave this update in Parliament on Monday (Feb 14) in reply to an MP's question. He said the Investigation Officer handled the police report as a routine theft case and did not visit the scene of crime promptly to investigate and gather evidence. He did not properly verify some of the claims made by the parties during the investigations. His supervisor did not provide sufficient guidance, which contributed to the lapses.
