Given the increasing volume and complexity of cases handled by Singapore’s courts, it is timely to review the need for greater specialisation among judicial officers to keep abreast of the latest developments in the law, said MP Lim Biow Chuan in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 3). He also said cross-service postings should continue to be encouraged and judicial officers should even be required to have some exposure to community work to do their jobs better. Mr Lim called on the Government to "invest heavily" in judicial and legal officers to maintain public trust in the system.
