Louis Ng on Online Criminal Harms Bill
The Bill will enable Singapore to tackle criminal online activities and empower the Government to issue Directions, act proactively and introduce appeal mechanisms to safeguard the exercise of powers. MP Louis Ng highlighted these points in Parliament on Wednesday (Jul 5). But he noted that the offences that the Bill intends to combat do not cover the illegal trade of animals. He wanted to know why they have not been included and whether the Government can consider including them. Mr Ng also wanted to know how the law will be applied effectively to online service providers and individuals overseas.
