Louis Ng on Singapore Tourism Board (Amendment) Bill
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) will have regulatory oversight of financial matters in a manner that supports the growth and development of the cruise sector, and in turn Singapore's tourism sector when it takes over the economic regulation of the cruise terminal operations from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, said MP Louis Ng. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Sep 12), he stressed the need for STB to exercise its new powers with clear and objective frameworks of success. He also wanted to know how public interests should be interpreted in the context of the Act. He asked how STB will assist the cruise line industry in reaching its sustainability goals.Â
