Low Yen Ling on SME engagement with Centres of Innovation
From 2016 to 2020, about 3,000 SMEs engaged the Centres of Innovation (COIs) in local Institutes of Higher Learning and A*STAR’s research institutes for support with research and development. This has resulted in about 300 innovation projects being conducted, in fields ranging from technology translation and adoption to intellectual property licensing and product co-development. The updates were given in Parliament by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling, in response to an MP's questions. Each COI is a one-stop hub specialising in a different sector to help SMEs innovate by providing services such as lab facilities, consultancies and feasibility studies.
