Maliki Osman on supporting teachers' mental health

02:15 Min

The Ministry of Education (MOE) regularly monitors its teachers' well-being through internal surveys, dipstick polls and regular engagements. Together, these inputs provide a holistic understanding of their well-being and provide useful information to help the Government adjust its policies and programmes as necessary. Second Minister for Education Maliki Osman said this in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 7). In his reply to an MP’s questions, he said that the inputs also allow MOE to take targeted actions to support schools that require more help. He added that teachers who need support can reach out to their supervisors and school leaders; they may also tap on other channels for support such as their school’s Wellness Ambassadors who provide peer support, MOE’s in-house professional counselling services and the external counselling hotline provided as part of the wider, whole-of-Government efforts to support officers.
