Masagos Zulkifli on 'Red Lines: Political Cartoons and the Struggle Against Censorship'
The book "Red Lines: Political Cartoons and the Struggle Against Censorship” was extremely offensive, shocking, demeaning and insulting to Muslims and Islam, said Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli. Replying to Parliamentary questions on Wednesday (Jan 12), he said the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore determined that such content, which negatively depicts Muslims or any religion, is not acceptable in a multi-religious society like Singapore. Mr Masagos, who is also Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, stressed the need to treat every religion with respect and encourage dialogue to promote greater understanding among different religious communities and strengthen Singapore's social fabric. He said the harmonious race and religious relations Singapore enjoys require constant care and attention.
