Melvin Yong on Land Transport and Related Matters Bill
How many cases involving the use of unregistered or deregistered vehicles were investigated by the police in the past three years and how will this be better enforced? Could the ERP 2.0 system be used to monitor and locate such vehicles? MP Melvin Yong asked about this in parliament on Tuesday (Feb 3) during debate on the Land Transport and Related Matters Bill. He also wanted to know when existing ERP gantries will be removed as Singapore transitions to ERP 2.0. Mr Yong added that the omnibus bill was “a missed opportunity” to strengthen legislation to improve the safety of workers still being transported at the back of lorries.
