Nadia Ahmad Samdin on public housing motions

15:20 Min

Introduce a “Stage of Life” housing grant designed to motivate Singaporeans to right-size their first homes and mortgages, and increase the supply of potential three-room flats available in the resale market by adjusting the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) for such units downwards to three years. This will encourage a rethink of how Singaporeans approach housing - buying the space they need today and upgrading as their needs change in the future, allowing space and assistance to be deployed when needed most. These ideas were put forward by MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 7). She also asked if three-generational flats could be a key feature of all BTO launches in mature estates, so that parents can move in with their children for better caregiving, while freeing up units for resale.
