Ong Ye Kung on safe COVID-19 home recovery programme
About 9,800 people are currently on the COVID-19 home recovery programme (HRP). They are recovering well, with over 2,800 discharged as of Oct 3. Over half of infected individuals will be onboarded daily. The number is expected to continue to rise. For those eligible for HRP, 93 per cent were contacted promptly and smoothly onboarded but there were difficulties contacting a remaining minority. Giving this update in reply to Parliamentary questions on Monday (Oct 4), Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said the Government is ironing out teething issues and resolving service lapses so that there is a strong sense of assurance in HRP as an important part of Singapore's COVID-19 response. He said individuals and families should, and have been, making adjustments to their living arrangements to make HRP safe and possible. He stressed that a high take-up rate of HRP will make it possible for hospitals to focus resources on those who may need greater support.
