Doctors treat COVID-19 patients based on their clinical assessment and severity of illness, which means patients will be charged treatment fees similar to other respiratory diseases, an amount currently at about S$20 to S$35 for subsidised patients at polyclinics. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health Rahayu Mahzam said this in Parliament on Friday (Feb 24) in reply to an MP's questions. She said over the past three years of the pandemic, only a minority of infected cases required inpatient admission to hospitals. Highlighting the availability of subsidies, MediShield, MediSave and MediFund, she assured that financial support is always available for those who have difficulty in paying their bills.
