Rahayu Mahzam on means-tested healthcare subsidies for households
The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore revised the annual values (AVs) of properties upwards from Jan 1 this year. Agencies such the Ministry of Health continue to use AVs as at Dec 31 last year to conduct means-testing for healthcare subsidies in 2023. Given the 2023 increase in AVs, the Ministry of Finance had said that social support schemes, including the AV thresholds, will be reviewed. An update will be provided later this year. Individuals who face difficulties in paying for their healthcare expenses due to a change in their AV under such circumstances may approach their healthcare institution or provider for assistance. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health Rahayu Mahzam said this in reply to an MP’s question in Parliament on Thursday (Jul 6).
