Seah Kian Peng wraps up debate on Budget and Committee of Supply 2026
Wrapping up the debate on Budget and Committee of Supply 2026 in parliament on Friday (Mar 6), Speaker Seah Kian Peng said with more Members in the 15th Parliament, 12 per cent more time was needed overall, even though there were almost a third fewer cuts. He highlighted unanimous support from both sides of the House for the Budget - rare in most countries, he said, and a unity that puts Singapore “in a good place to face a very challenging future”. Mr Seah said the debate reflected not merely partisan disagreement, but a disagreement about ideas - in his view, “a mark of the sanctity and legitimacy” of the agreements and laws made.
