Singapore upgrades 2026 GDP growth forecast to 4.5-5.5%
Singapore has raised its GDP growth forecast for 2026 to between 4.5 and 5.5 per cent this year, up from the earlier prediction of 2 to 4 per cent. The upgrade follows a stronger-than-expected first half performance and a global AI investment boom. Meanwhile, a record second-quarter surge in the electronics sector saw Singapore's trade growth exceed expectations in the first half of the year. The electronics sector grew by 88.1 per cent in Q2, fuelling an 18.6 per cent rise in non-oil domestic exports, the strongest first-half growth since 2010. CNA speaks to Sheana Yue, Senior Economist at Oxford Economics for more insight into what’s driving these numbers.
