Sun Xueling on safeguards for young suspects during police interviews

From April 2023, the age threshold for the Appropriate Adult Scheme for Young Suspects will cover those who are 16 and 17 years old. The Government aims to complete the expansion by October 2023, said Minister of State for Home Affairs Sun Xueling. Replying to an MP’s question in Parliament on Tuesday (Jul 5), she said the volunteer pool is being built up to make this possible. She also outlined the safeguards in place for young suspects during police investigations.
