Tan See Leng on tripartite discussions on advance Mandatory Retrenchment Notification
Singapore has been able to achieve comparable outcomes in Mandatory Retrenchment Notifications (MRNs), said Manpower Minister Tan See Leng. In 2025, 77 per cent of MRNs were submitted at least seven days ahead of the employee's last working day and 73 per cent were submitted at least two weeks ahead. Dr Tan, who gave this update in reply to an MP’s questions in parliament on Tuesday (May 5), said the government would like to see notification happening before or by the employee's last working day as far as possible as this will enable timely support. Tripartite partners are studying how to encourage earlier notification by employers and the government will provide an update on the discussions in due course, said Dr Tan.
