Thai driver turns himself in after initially fleeing school bus blaze that killed 23
The 48-year-old driver of a school bus that burst into flames on the outskirts of Thailand's capital has been slapped with four charges, after turning himself in to police. The accident left at least 20 people dead -- mostly students who were on a field trip. The driver told police that his bus was travelling at 70-80kmh when it suddenly lost balance. He said he lost control of the vehicle, crashing into another car before hitting a concrete barrier, causing sparks that ignited the blaze. He said he rushed to grab a fire extinguisher from another coach, but ran away in shock after failing to put out the blaze.
