Tin Pei Ling on Land Transport and Related Matters Bill
Transitioning to ERP 2.0 is a step towards a smarter transport future, said MP Tin Pei Ling. However, with installation of on-board units delayed by a global chip shortage, she asked how the government will ensure the systems do not become obsolete, requiring another upgrade in the near future. She also wanted to know what support will be given to those who earn their living on the road if distance-based ERP pricing is implemented. Ms Tin also asked about stronger safety enforcement in the use of personal mobility aids, such as by installing more extensive camera networks that support smart, real-time identification of and action against non-compliant riders. She spoke in parliament on Tuesday (Feb 3).
