Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 4: Shawn Huang on support for inclusive workplaces
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is strengthening its workplace fairness framework to ensure that all workers are treated fairly. The Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices will step up public outreach and education efforts on the Workplace Fairness Act. MOM and its tripartite partners are reviewing the existing Tripartite Advisory on Managing Workplace Harassment and developing a new Tripartite Standard on this matter. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower Shawn Huang outlined the targeted measures in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 3). These include support for persons with disabilities (PWDs) to enter the workforce. He pointed out that inclusive workplaces for PWDs require clear norms and practical guidance. This is why MOM is working with its tripartite partners and social service agencies on a new Tripartite Advisory on Reasonable Accommodations. It will provide practical guidance on how reasonable accommodation can be implemented at the workplace. This gives employers clarity and provides workers with the confidence to raise accommodation needs early, said Mr Huang.
