Debate on President’s speech: Alex Yam on building a community ecosystem based on relations

Community building should not just be confined to festive events and occasional activities but should have deep community connectivity programmes. Residents should not only know each other as neighbours, but also become mutual support for one another. Singapore must also develop community shared spaces that are real living spaces and not just physical spaces, as well as create intergenerational collaboration projects for the young and the old to come together to solve community problems and share ideas. MP Alex Yam shared his "to do list" for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth in parliament on Thursday (Sep 25), urging it to lead the effort to shift community building from activity-based projects to building an ecosystem based on relations.
