David Hoe on Singapore Sports Council (Amendment) Bill
With SportSG’s expanded mandate to promote and plan physical fitness activities, it could go beyond programming to shaping the everyday built environment, said MP David Hoe. He called on SportSG to work with HDB, URA and other agencies to assess and pilot turning suitable underutilised spaces into spaces for sport and recreation. In parliament on Tuesday (Jan 13), Mr Hoe also said recognition of mind sports and e-sports must come with clear guardrails and messaging that they do not replace physical activities, which remain foundational for health and well-being.
