Motion: Saktiandi Supaat on artificial intelligence transition with no jobless growth
As Singapore moves decisively into an AI-driven economy, its approach must be anchored in fairness, resilience and opportunity for all, said MP Saktiandi Supaat. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (May 6), he highlighted several ways to equip workers and enterprises more effectively. One way is to normalise AI as a way of life, by ensuring sustained and affordable access, especially for lower-income workers, freelancers, tradespersons and small businesses. He urged the government to be the “first customer” of useful AI tools and to mitigate AI transition-related concerns. He also stressed the need to focus on the essential infrastructure that enables AI, as well as ensure that employers redesign workflows to embed AI meaningfully through an “AI Bilingual” accreditation for employers, workers and jobseekers.
