Can the Government do more to ensure that employers adopt fair practices in hiring pregnant staff? Could it, for example, make this part of the Ministry of Manpower’s framework in considering applications for Employment Passes and other work passes? This question was put forward by MP Gan Thiam Poh in Parliament on Tuesday (Apr 5). He also urged the Government to look into legislating flexi-work arrangements such as early release of staff so that they can pick up their children from childcare or enjoy more family time.
