White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development: Sharael Taha on support for caregivers

13:23 Min

Most primary caregivers are still women and they need more support even as Singapore works towards changing this entrenched stereotype, said MP Sharael Taha. To help caregivers balance their responsibilities with work, he said the adoption of flexi-work arrangements should be expedited so that the momentum brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic is not lost by the time tripartite guidelines come into force in 2024. He also called for more to be done to promote job restructuring through flexi-load or job-sharing. Mr Sharael pointed out that caregivers need to be made aware of what support is available for them to tap. He spoke in Parliament on Tuesday (Apr 5).
