Yip Hon Weng on SkillsFuture Singapore Agency and Skills Development Levy amendment bills

10:46 Min

Increasing the regulatory powers of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) against fraud or abuse by adult learning providers will enhance public confidence in the quality and integrity of Singapore as an education hub, said MP Yip Hon Weng in Parliament on Monday (Jan 9). He asked if, in addition to increasing penalties for offences, the Ministry of Education (MOE) will consider barring recalcitrant companies and creating a blacklist of firms with major infractions. He also asked how SSG will improve its enforcement of repayment of owed funds. Mr Yip urged MOE to do more to improve the quality of training providers by setting up a dedicated channel for users to give feedback on courses and trainers.
