Zaqy Mohamad on mental health support for Full-Time National Servicemen
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has measures to support Full-Time National Servicemen (NSFs) who face psychosocial stressors that may impact their mental health. These NSFs are identified through Basic Military Training, surveys and interviews. They can also reach out to their commanders or the SAF counselling hotline. They are then referred for help to SAF’s mental health support system, financial assistance schemes and rehabilitation services. SAF also works with the wider community support system to ensure their continued well-being after completing National Service. Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad said this in reply to a parliamentary question on Wednesday (Apr 8).
