SINGAPORE: The Certificate of Entitlement (COE) quota for the November 2023 to January 2024 quarter will be increased further, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Friday (Nov 3).

LTA will reallocate an additional 1,614 Category A, B and C COEs to the quota, on top of the 1,895 reallocated COEs announced last month, it said in a news release.

This will bring the total supply of COEs for the quarter to 14,388.

For Category A, mainly used for smaller mass-market cars, the quota will now be 5,513 – a 35 per cent increase from the previous quarter.

For larger cars in Category B, the supply will now be 3,800 – also a 35 per cent quarter-on-quarter increase.

The quota for Category C – goods vehicles and buses – will now be 65 per cent higher than the preceding quarter, with 1,129 COEs available.

There were no changes to quotas for other categories.

"Potential buyers may want to take note that the COE quota for Categories A, B and C will continue to increase in 2024 before reaching the peak supply period from 2025, whilst (the) Category D quota in 2024 is expected to remain comparable to 2023," LTA said.

Category D vehicles are motorcycles.

Bidding under the new quota will start on Nov 6.

LTA added that it will announce the COE quota for the bidding period of February to April 2024 in January.

COE prices have been on the rise in recent weeks, with premiums for all car categories hitting new highs.
