SINGAPORE: A 66-year-old man suspected of murdering a woman at a Yishun housing block due to a noise dispute was taken to the scene of the crime by the police on Monday (Oct 6).

Dressed in a red polo shirt, black shorts and clear slippers, Koh Ah Hwee arrived at Block 323 Yishun Central at about 10am in an unmarked black van.

The Singaporean man, wearing a face mask, was accompanied by several plainclothes officers.

Five uniformed police officers earlier set up a cordon at the void deck at 9am, blocking off the lift landing and sitting area from the public. They guarded the perimeter, only letting residents of the block enter and leave.

The staircase from the fourth to the seventh floors was also cordoned off.

With his arms and legs in black restraints, Koh was brought to his residential unit on the fifth floor.

After almost an hour, he was taken up to the sixth floor, where investigations continued at the lift landing and corridor.

White plastic sheets were used to block off the exterior of the corridors on both floors.

At around 11.30am, Koh was taken away.

Koh was charged with murder on Sep 25 in hospital via a field magistrate.

He is accused of murdering Ms Nguyen Phuong Tra by stabbing her in the chest with a knife, in a common corridor outside a sixth-floor unit of the block at about 7.25am the day before.

Koh allegedly injured the Vietnamese woman and her husband with a knife after a fight arose from a noise dispute.

The 30-year-old woman was taken unconscious to the hospital, where she died.

The case has been adjourned for a further mention on Oct 9.

If convicted of murder, Koh could be sentenced to death.
