20:00 Min
Kicking off the debate on Budget 2021 in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 24), Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh called for closer scrutiny of Government expenditure, giving the example of multi-billion-dollar initiatives meant to improve skills and job opportunities for Singaporean workers, especially mature workers. Mr Singh said more specifics are needed on their effectiveness. He also urged the Government to phase in the increase in petrol duties, in step with the availability of electric vehicles as a realistic choice for consumers.
