Budget 2023 debate: Leong Mun Wai on PSP's 'alternative Budget'

20:28 Min

Progress Singapore Party (PSP) welcomes the financial assistance in Budget 2023 to help Singaporeans cope with the rising cost of living and inflation, said NCMP Leong Mun Wai. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 22), he said PSP is not sure if the "short-term, ad-hoc" assistance will strengthen the resilience of Singaporeans and help them move forward in a new era. Stressing the need for long-term programmes, he proposed an "alternative Budget" that will proactively deploy excess fiscal resources to benefit the current generation of Singaporeans, promote the financial security of the middle class and reduce the socio-economic issues caused by high property prices by resetting Singapore's public housing policy.
