Cai Yinzhou on Land Transport and Related Matters Bill

09:42 Min

Just as the police and National Environment Agency have volunteers with enforcement powers, the Land Transport Authority could allow volunteers to check personal mobility aid (PMA) licences for more effective enforcement, said MP Cai Yinzhou. In parliament on Tuesday (Feb 3), he also suggested facilitating the disposal of non-compliant active mobility devices at no cost or with incentives for early action, and with a ‘no questions asked’ amnesty period. Mr Cai also called for stronger fire regulations for PMAs with periodic inspections, noting that many are used by people like seniors who would be especially vulnerable in the event of a fire.
