Cheryl Chan on Energy (Resilience Measures and Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill

08:03 Min

Amid a global power crunch, it is timely for Singapore to be reviewing measures to achieve energy resilience, said MP Cheryl Chan in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 2). As the country explores importing renewable energy through regional grids, she asked if this ability could be limited by export measures set by other countries based on their own domestic considerations. With the planned pivot towards mass electrification, such as in vehicles, Ms Chan also asked if Singapore’s power network will be able to cope and what will be done to ensure stability and balance in energy consumption.
