Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 1: Chong Kee Hiong on SAF's transformation plans
Singapore must be prepared for threats from all sources and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) must therefore maintain the ability to deter and defend against threats in both the physical and digital realms. MP Chong Kee Hiong, who highlighted this in Parliament on Friday (Feb 24), pointed out that Singapore’s low fertility rate is one of its biggest challenges and would affect the future number of NSmen. He urged the SAF to adapt to technology utilisation or policy changes leading to further transformation and asked the Ministry of Defence for an update on the progress of SAF's transformation.
